Tropical Storm Nicholas has formed in the western Gulf of Mexico.
The latest forecast from the National Weather Service shows the possibility of 5-10 inches this evening into the morning with an additional 5-10 from Tuesday – Wednesday. There are still a lot of unknowns on what track Tropical Storm Nicholas will take but the Gulf of Mexico is full of moisture and our region can expect heavy rain regardless of the track.
Tidal activity on Bolivar Peninsula is expected to be 4-5 feet and may impact Hwy 87. TxDOT is staging crews on the Peninsula to respond to any issues or debris on the highway.
Galveston County Office of Emergency Management is working with local partners to stage numerous high-water assets around the County out of an abundance of caution. It’s important to remember to never drive into flood waters. Turn around, don’t drown.
