One of the biggest dangers at the beach is rip currents but you can keep your family safe by taking a few safety precautions.
Before going in to the water:
- Know how to swim
- Never swim alone
- Heed all beach flag warnings
- If in doubt, don’t go out
If you get caught in a rip current:
- Don’t fight the current
- Swim out of the current, then to shore
- If you can’t escape, float or tread water
*If you need help, call or wave for assistance
