During a drought you can take measures to keep yourself and your community safe:
- Trim tree branches from ground to six feet
- Water yards and shrubs
- Clear away dead plants and leaves
- Place ladders and trellises away from rooftop
- Safely store fuel and flammables
- Mow grass to two inches
Remember your fire triangle. Fire needs heat, oxygen, and fuel. Limiting the fuel a small fire has and the paths it can take to spread to other fuel sources can prevent it from becoming a big fire.
