Galveston County’s COVID-19 vaccination partnership with UTMB Health and the Galveston County Health District will enter a new phase starting May 1st. After months of operating a mass vaccination site at the County’s Walter Hall Park, demand at the site has dwindled. More than 50% of the County’s vaccine eligible population has been fully vaccinated, a number that is expected to increase as additional second dose shots are administered.
Crews are currently working on installing a storm sewer system across the IH-45 southbound frontage road north of FM 518. They will be closing the left lane on the IH-45 southbound frontage road from just south of Clear Creek to the FM 518 intersection from 9 p.m. on Friday, April 9 to 5 a.m. on Monday, April 12. Please plan on taking an alternate route.
More 150,000 vaccines have been administered at the Walter Hall Park vaccination hub by Galveston County, UTMB Health, and the Galveston County Health District.
These COVID-19 vaccination efforts would not be possible without the help of our Galveston County community and the numerous selfless volunteers who have answered the call to serve.
There is still a great need for licensed healthcare professionals to help assist in the unprecedented distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine.
