Galveston County Will Be Hosting A Palm Frond Disposal Event
WHEN: October 16th 8am – NOON

FOR MORE INFORMATION: 281-534-4152
PALM FRONDS ONLY, NO TREES OR TRUNKS
Please Dispose of Palm Fronds Responsibly
The coarse leaves of palm trees can take years to break down, making the plant difficult to compost. Many green-waste facilities won’t accept the leaves because the wiry fibers get caught in machinery. Galveston County Dune Protection and Beach Access Plan states that disposing of palm fronds on the beach is NOT allowed.
Other options for palm frond disposal are:
- Obtain a burning permit from Galveston County and burn you fronds when allowed.
- Peninsula Sanitation will accept palm fronds at their location with a fee per cubic yard.
Please help protect our protection, DO NOT dispose of your debris on the dune system!
