Due to the leaks throughout the entire water system after the Winter Storm Conditions, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required Bolivar Peninsula Special Utility District to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption. To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to consumption. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.
Bolivar Peninsula Special Utility District is issuing a Stage 5 Emergency Water Shortage Condition, due to the leaks throughout the entire water system after the Winter Storm Conditions. BPSUD’s Stage 5 Emergency Water Shortage Conditions as outlined in our Drought Contingency Plan includes the following.
- Irrigation of landscape areas is absolutely prohibited.
- Use of water to wash motor vehicles, boat, trailer, or other vehicle is absolutely prohibited.
When it is no longer necessary to boil and/or conserve water, water system officials will notify you.
